This week’s Bleeping Idiot of the week is Spain. A bunch of douche bags. Spain’s olympic basketball team had a picture taken with everyone with slanty eye’s, a racial shot at China. This photo was used in promotion in Spain in Marca, a popular sports daily. This picture was not taken in hate or any harm towards the Chinese, but sure won’t help Spain’s already tarnished rep from recent sporting events(monkey chant in soccer vs England).

Don’t get me wrong, I always love to make some jokes, but this is a photograph for the games you have been working your entire life for. Now instead of being the spanish olympic team, they are the “slanty eyed spanish basketball team”.

Of course over the past few days there have been tons of sports news events. CC Sabathia being traded to the Brewers was the biggest event over the past few days. The Brewers gave up 4 prospects to get the reighning AL Cy Young Award winning pitcher from the Indians. Expect the NL Central to heat up now as the Brewers will be making a chase for the Cub’s. This trade for the Brewers was a great move for the present time, who know’s how much this will hurt their future, but it will give them a push for the playoffs this season. The Brewers now have confidence in their team, the fans now have some hope, and 26 years of losing might soon be over. They might have just gotten the ace of the MLB.

Cubs brought in Rich Harden as a great move to help “cancel” out CC slightly. Harden is not the answer to this, but will only make the race tighter in the NL Central.

Other big news also comes from baseball(mainly the Phillies)… The All-Star votings came out, and as a Phillies fan I was furious to see that Pat Burrell did not make the squad after having a great first half season, batting .278, with 21 HR’s, 53 RBI’s, and 47 runs. The old juicer Miguel Tajada and Ryan Ludwick made it over him. Alfonso Soriano made the team and he’s on the DL, So hopefully this still gives Pat the Bat a chance to come in, or in the Final voting rounds. But the great news is that Chase Utley is leading the league in homer’s with 24, and will be participating in this years Home Run Derby with Josh Hamilton, Dan Uggla, Lance Berkman, Vlad Guerrero, and Grady Sizemore. 2 More players will be chosen. The Phillies just locked up closer Brad Lidge who has been phenomenal this season. Brad got a fresh start here in Philadephia after much speculation if he could handle the position, but he has claimed himself as one of the most dominant closers in the league this year. In more important frontpage headlines, A.Rod got divorced. woopty doo. Now he and Madonna will be the new item of the month.

In the NFL, things just keep getting more and more ridiculous with Brett Favre… It seems that the Packers don’t really want him back, but the city would love a return. A recent poll on espn showed that Wisconsin was the only state that wanted to see a return of him in the country. It is an tough decision for both of them(Brett and the organization), yes Brett can still win in the league, and yes Aaron Rodgers is not the instant success plan… He was drafted as the QB of the future, but the future is now for the Pack. Brett’s legacy will be tarnished if he returns, especially on another team like the Panthers or Bucs… Brett Don’t do it!

More cool news came in the NHL today when they announced that they will be announcing that another outdoor hockey game will be played in 2009 for the Winter Classic. The game will be between the Chicago Blackhawks and the league champs Detroit Red Wings. This year was the snowy outdoor game with the Penguins and Sabres. Crosby’s Penguins won 2-1 in a shootout at Ralph Wilson stadium.

Seattle is now officially no longer an NBA city.

41 years of history is leaving the city of Seattle after the Sonics reached a buyout agreement with the city. The Sonics history includes 6 div titles, and 1 nba title(’79). This must be devastating for a loyal devoted Seattlian(new word? or is it Seattleite). I can not imagine my hometown teams(Phils, Sixers, or the Eagles) leaving my home for anything; I would feel betrayed. Unfortunately, money is more important then my feelings and multiple city’s have experienced this. Reports are that David Stern wants to bring a team back to Seattle within the next 5 years, which will give time for the city to devise a plan for a new stadium. The Sonics team name, logo, and colors are staying in Seattle and will hopefully soon be an NBA team again.

This will be Oklahoma-football lovin’-city’s first professional team and Sooner nation will now be majoring in another field of study(tailgating at a basketball game). Maybe this change will magically make the Sonics a playoff-contending team, but I doubt anything at all will change for their record. It will be an interested offseason to hear the news about a team name, logo, and colors for this new OKC team.

This week’s clear-cut winner for this prestigious Bleeping Idiot of the Week award is Shaq… Remember that genie-rapping’-terrible actin’ movie Kazaam where Shaq showed off his great acting and rapping skills, well he was back at it again. Shaq’s main subject of this rap(freestyle) was former teammate, and NBA MVP Kobe Bryant. “Last week Kobe couldn’t do without me” Shaq, guess what, you can’t do it without Dwayne…or Kobe… This was disrespectful(but funny) toward Kobe, and he should take this personally. Shaq said that this is all in just fun and games, which it might be meant to, but he crossed a line here.

More big news on Shaq this week from this freestyle rap, was he lost his depute license. WTF?…

Congratulations Boston!

First off, Happy Father’s day, hope you enjoyed your holiday with your family.

Game 5 was another exciting game… Again, the Lakers dominated the first quarter, leading by as much as 17. Kobe had 15 points and 4 three-pointers, and LA led 39-22 after the first. Following the first quarter, Kobe was almost non-existent, scoring 0 points in the 2nd quarter. The Celtics rebounded back by going on a 15 - 0 run in the 2nd. At the half, the Lakers lead 55-52. The Celtic’s comeback was lead by Paul Pierce and the Celtic dominating defense. When I turned on the game a few minutes in, the first thing I thought was “here we go again”, I thought the Celtic’s didn’t have it in them to make another comeback of this margin. But again, I was proven wrong by them.

In the third, Kobe and KG racked up his 4th foul, and the Lakers took a 7 point lead off of back to back 3 point plays by Fisher and Radmonovic. The lead extended to 9 to end off the 3rd quarter. Again the Celtic’s are going to be forced to make another comeback in order to reach their first NBA championship in 22 years.

The 4th quarter lead immediately extended to 14 from a huge 3 by Lamar Odom. Sam Cassell slowly started taking over the 4th, scoring 7 consecutive Celtic points, and before you know it the Celtic’s were back in it tying the game 90-90. The Lakers end up surviving from two key play’s… Garnett’s two missed freethrows and Kobe’s steal and slam. Kobe finished with 25 points and Lamar Odom finished with 20. Paul Pierce played an unbelievable game again, finishing with 38 points. Ray Allen ended with 16, Garnett with 13.

Celtics 103-Boston 98

The Celtic’s continue to impress me game after game, with these huge deficit comebacks. But the Lakers pull it off and survive another day.

Pre-Game Report:

Thursday night’s game 4 is a make or break game for the 2008 Finals. It may appear that all the pressure is on Kobe Bryant in this game to lead the comeback, and after his 36 point performance in game 3, the stage is set. I feel the pressure is NOT on Kobe, but it is on #16 Pau Gasol… Kobe will do his part night after night, he needs his teammates to step up tonight and help carry them to a victory. Pau Gasol had an obismal performance in game 3 after finishing 3-9 shooting and 3-8 at the line. For the celtics, KG can’t hit that jump shot he insists on hitting shot after shot. Pierce and Ray will do their job, but the matchup between KG and Gasol is the depending factor.

Prediction: If Pau Gasol scores 17+ Lakers and hold Garnett under 17, the Lakers win.

Halftime Report:

With the lakers leading by 17 at halftime, everything has gone right for them. The momentum is with the Lakers after that 25 foot 3 point buzzer beater. Lamar Odom has 15 first half points while shooting 7-7 and 1-2 from the free throw line, he has finally came out of his shell in game 4 of the series. Kobe has 3 points while shooting 0-4 from the field, and 3-4 from the line. Kobe has been effective from other parts of the floor this first half, 4 steals and 6 assists. The second leading scorer of the Lakers is Pau Gasol, scoring 10 points and 6 boards. In game 3 Odom and Gasol combined for 13 points, in the first half alone, they combine for 25.

For the Celtics, it feels they have not even shown up…. They were chasing a 21 point first quarter deficit the entire second quarter. Posey is leading the Celtics with 10 points, while 6 of them are from outside the arch. Ray Allen has contributed 9 points, while Pierce only has 6. Kevin Garnett also has 6 points in the half, also grabbing 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

At this point, I can’t see the Celtics making a comeback, It seems that they forgot there game back in Boston.

Second Half Report:

I guess I was wrong….

After being down by as much as 24 in the first half, the Celtics made an unbelievable 17-3 run, and eventually tied the game up at 77 with about 6 minutes remaining in the game. The Celtics took their first lead of the game with 4 minutes remaining from a 18 foot jumper from substitute Eddie House who is one of the factors in this in-the-making comeback. With 2:10 minutes remaining in the game and the Celtics up by 5, I would love to see the Celtics pull off this win. This is in the making to be one of the greatest comebacks in NBA finals history. Lakers cut the lead to 2 with 1:30 left in the game with Kobe driving the lane, and a great shot by Posey for a 3 pointer to push the lead back to 5. A crucial shot by Fisher was called a 2 pointer due to the fact that his foot was on the line. Fisher’s decision could come back to hurt them in the ending. Pierce nailed to nerve wrecking free throws to pus the lead back to 5 again. Pau Gasol dunked the ball, and then Ray Allen came back with a unbelievable drive to the basket after calling an Iso.

Final Thoughts:

The Celtics Just pulled off the second greatest comeback in NBA finals history. This was an unbelievable game to watch, I feel bad for those that turned the game off at halftime. Celtics now lead the series 3-1, and have dominating control in one of the greatest rivalries in NBA history. It is going to be a rough road for the Lakers to make a comeback after this devastating loss. Finally, my bold prediction of Lakers winning of Gasol had 17+ and Garnett under 17 seemed to fail. As Gasol finished with 17 and Garnett finished with 16…
