Travis Henry won’t be wearing #20 anymore, but he’ll always have a 20 bag close by…

Former Denver Bronco running back Travis Henry has been arrested for trafficking multiple kilograms of cocaine, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration announced today.

Henry and another man, James Mack, were arrested Tuesday after “as a result of a multi-kilogram cocaine transaction” in Centennial, Jeffrey D. Sweetin, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Rocky Mountain Division, said in a statement.

The two men are being held pending the filing of federal drug charges in U.S. District Court later today in Denver.

Ed Hochuli, one of the premier officials in the NFL changed the outcome of division rivals San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos. Jay Cutler rolled out from the 1 yard line, cocked back to throw, and lossed the ball… The whistle blew, and the arm came forward. San Diego linebacker Tim Dobbins picked up the ball and fell out of bounce.

Following the blown call, the Broncos scored to come within 1 point, and opted to go for the 2 point conversion with 24 seconds remaining in the game. Mike Shanahan made one of the ballsiest decisions in sports history. I can not in my memory compare this decision to go for the win to any other scenario. I guess he figured he deserved to lose the game, so what the hell… The Broncos successfully converted and sent a lightning bolt to the heart of the Chargers.

“I can’t say that the ref cheated us because that’s a fine,” Phillips wrote. “I can’t say that the Broncos didn’t win that game because that’s being a sore loser. I can’t say that it was a mistake that the replay machine wasn’t working in the first [quarter] cause that would be a lie. . . . As a competitor it should never come down to the last play, but it did and we let it slip away.”

This Weeks Bleeping Idiot of the Week is…. Shawne Merriman, LB of the San Diego Chargers.

This Pro Bowl linebacker decided he doesn’t need ligaments in his knee to play football. Smart move! Merriman has tears in both his PCL and LCL in his left knee, and will forgo surgery this year and play though the pain.  He visited 4 different doctors, all who told him that he should have the surgery..so what does he do???  He decides NOT to have the surgery.  by playing with tears in two of his ligaments, he is risking an injury that would be fatal to his NFL career.  He could possibly tear all of the ligaments in his knee by continuing to play now, as well as cause irreparable damage to his meniscus.  Remember what a beast Daunte Culpepper used to be before he tore 3 ligaments in his right knee in 2005?  He has never been the same since then.  Basically, that devastating injury ruined his career.  I guarantee you that if Daunte had the choice to prevent such an injury from happening he would take it in a heartbeat.  Merriman said that what it comes down to is the fact that “He just wants to play football.”  He says that he knows whats on the table, but unless he has suffered the kind of devastating knee injury that ended Daunte Culpepper’s career, then I really do not think he DOES realize what is at eisk here.  This is a selfish act that could end up costing him and his team pain that could have been thwarted.

This week’s Bleeping Idiot of the week is Spain. A bunch of douche bags. Spain’s olympic basketball team had a picture taken with everyone with slanty eye’s, a racial shot at China. This photo was used in promotion in Spain in Marca, a popular sports daily. This picture was not taken in hate or any harm towards the Chinese, but sure won’t help Spain’s already tarnished rep from recent sporting events(monkey chant in soccer vs England).

Don’t get me wrong, I always love to make some jokes, but this is a photograph for the games you have been working your entire life for. Now instead of being the spanish olympic team, they are the “slanty eyed spanish basketball team”.

And it isn’t over…Here are women spanish tennis players striking a similar pose.

Panthers stud Wide Receiver Steve Smith is now officially suspended for the first two games of the 2008-09 season for his involvement in an altercation that took place during training camp practice yesterday between Smith and corner back Ken Lucas. The fight took place during one of the rest periods of the practice, at this time both players had their helmets off, it was said that it is unclear what exactly started the outburst but the end result was Steve Smith punching teammate Lucas in the face. Lucas was carted off the field with a broken nose.

First off let me just say how mad this whole situation made me. Steve Smith is a grown man and a proffessional football player and under NO circumstances should you punch a teammate in the face! Especially with all the reporters that were there reporting on Panthers training camp. Seems a little bad for team chemistry if you ask me.

“Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones faces a felony drug charge in his former college town after police say he was inside a car cutting up cocaine with a credit card.

The 25-year-old Jones and two others were arrested early Thursday. A police report said officers approached the car and an officer drew his handgun after Jones did not immediately show his hands.

Police said they searched the vehicle and found a plastic bag filled with a white substance that tested positive for cocaine and a jar with possible marijuana residue.

Jared Hicks and Benjamin Cook were also arrested on misdemeanor drug charges.

Jones was released from the Washington County jail on $2,500 bond. His arraignment on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance was set for Aug. 11, two days after Jacksonville’s preseason opener against Atlanta.

Police said 6 grams of cocaine was found. The threshold for potential charges of possession with intent to deliver is 1 gram. However, prosecutor John Threet said there is no evidence that Jones intended to deal the drug.”

If I were in competition for playing time with the newly revamped Jaguars receiving core, that is path I would take. Cutting cocaine with your credit card sitting in the car with your two buddies, and some of the residue of the marijuana I just smoked…

Wow, I was stunned when I read this article about Matt Jones. You’re already in Jack Del Rio’s shithole after the ending of last season being inactive the last few games of the season, then they bring in Troy Williamson(who has been very impressive so far) and Jerry Porter. Now they find out your a coke head on top of this? Roger Goodell is going to love to hear these new reports about the former Arkansas star quarterback turned receiver. Before you know it this guy is going to be playing ball with chris henry.

It amazes me time after time that this guy is

1)first off doing coke when hes in the nfl

2)If he is going to do it, he can afford a hotel room for a few hours. (.0001% of his salary probably)

This week’s clear-cut winner for this prestigious Bleeping Idiot of the Week award is Shaq… Remember that genie-rapping’-terrible actin’ movie Kazaam where Shaq showed off his great acting and rapping skills, well he was back at it again. Shaq’s main subject of this rap(freestyle) was former teammate, and NBA MVP Kobe Bryant. “Last week Kobe couldn’t do without me” Shaq, guess what, you can’t do it without Dwayne…or Kobe… This was disrespectful(but funny) toward Kobe, and he should take this personally. Shaq said that this is all in just fun and games, which it might be meant to, but he crossed a line here.

A new weekly story I will be blogging every week is Bleeping Idiot of the Week, choosing the one person each week I feel that just not up-to-par in the sports world.

This week’s Bleeping Idiot is Marcus Vick, no not Michael Vick, his younger delinquent brother and the other former Virginia Tech Quarterback who has had a few run-ins with the law and problems in life. Marcus also had a temporary career with the Miami Dolphins in 2007. Police reports say a bicycle patrol officer(aka Lance Armstrong cop) saw Vick and a female involved in an altercation in a car around 2 a.m. The officer confronted them and offered assistance, then asked Vick for his driver’s license. Police say Vick then sped away, but was stopped minutes later. Vick was charged with DUI, misdemeanor avoiding police, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, and driving a suspended license. C’mon, call a cab next time with some of that dog betting money and save yourself from another headline on every major sports network.

This kid has to get his life together, I don’t understand why he is not doing what he’s best at(besides getting in trouble) playing football. It makes me wonder why guy’s like him aren’t playing in Canada or in the Arena league. Do they think they are to good for it? Or is he just having to much fun driving around drunk at 2 a.m. Below is a timeline with Marcus’s troubles on and off the field at VT, he also was charged with waving a gun at 3 teenagers in a McDonald’s parking lot during an altercation.

The first thing I thought when I read about this incident, is that I feel terrible for his mother Ms. Vick. Her two children had all the potential in the world to succeed in life, a great education and they were two of the best athletes in the nation. I guess they just grew up with the wrong crowd and got involved with the wrong types of people. I completely understand that they are human’s too, and everyone makes mistakes, but there has to be a point where he realizes its time to grow up…
