The Madden Curse WILL end this year with Brett Favre and the New York Jets, expect big things from Favre this year in a new Uniform for the first time in like 300 years.

Think Brett Favre will get injured this season? hah, he hasn’t missed a game in 288 games and he is 38 years old! (nearly 39). Brett Favre doesn’t even know what it is like to miss a game, let alone sit on the sidelines.

Do you think Brett Favre will throw more Int’s then TD’s?? He’s only done that 4 times (once in Atlanta) in his career, and he has been in the NFL for 17 seasons.

Don’t let the Jets record last year fool you, they have weapons. Favre’s ability to stretch the field will allow Thomas Jones to do what he does best and run the ball, Jones won’t be seeing any 8 in the box this year. Favre will also be working with 2 big time recievers in Jericho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles.

Brett Favre’s sunday debut included a 2 magical moments…

Favre had a 56 yard touchdown bomb off a beautiful play action to Cotchery in the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter without Place Kicker Nugent, the Jets were forced to go for a 4th and 13. After quickly avoiding to pass rushers, Favre had the intelligence to throw the ball up in the air knowing that an interception is as good as an incompletion. The ball seemingly punt-like flew 22 yards and landed in the hands of leaping wide-receiver Stuckey.

Favre Debuted with 194 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Ok so a couple of days ago i posted who i felt would be the top ten Heisman contenders for this season of college football, and now that week one is in the books it it time to see how they did.

1.) Tim Tebow- 1st of all is Tebow who played vs. Hawaii on Saturday and posted mediocre numbers completing 9-14 passes for 137 yards and 1 td and carrying the ball 9 times for a total of 37 yards. All in all not a bad day but nothing heisman worthy either.

2.) Chris Wells- vs. Youngstown St.- Wells started off the day looking as heisman worthy as we all thought he would as he amassed 111 yards on only 13 carries and 3 catches for 10 yards. Unfortunately for Wells, he went down in the 3rd quarter with a foot injury. The severity of the injury has not yet been given to us.

3.) Michael Crabtree- vs. Eastern Washington - Crabtree played well on saturday but still did not really put up superstar numbers. He was however able to make it into the endzone as he fiished off the day with 9 catches for 73 yards and a score.

4.) Chase Daniel- vs. Illinois - Daniel opened up his season on saturday night against a tough Illinois team but they were not tough enough as Daniel was able to show us why he is one of the top Heisman contenders this season as he completed 26-45 passes for 323 yards 3 toughdowns and 1 pick.

5.) Pat White - vs. Villanova - Saturday was truly a great day for Pat White as he showed doubters that he able to drop back and pass the ball and that he feels he can play QB at the next level. After watching the game i notice that he still has alot to work on as he was only playing vs. Villanova and not a top defense, but still his numbers are on White’s side as he threw 33 passes completing 25 of them for 208 yards 5 TD’s and 1 INT. White also showed his value as a runner as he was able to accumulate 63 yards on only 9 carries.

6.) Matthew Stafford- vs. Georgia Southern - This was a gimme game for Georgia which is something we all knew from the start and Stafford used this game to start himself off on the right foot in true Heisman form. Stafford went 13-21 for 275 yards with two TD’s and 0 picks. NOTE: he would have had higher number if they ahd played him the whole game

7.) Sam Bradford- vs. Chattanooga - Bradford fell into a similar situation as Stafford where as the team he played against was so awful that they only needed him for about 1 half of football. Bradford was still able to make it count though as he went 17-22 for 183 yards and 2 scores with 0 ints.

8.) Knowshon Moreno- vs. Georgia Southern - Due to the fact that Georgia was beating on Georgia Southern, Moreno like Bradford and Stafford only played for about a half. He was able to find the endzone three times though as he rushes the ball 8 times for 59 yards and the three touchdowns. He also added another 53 yards on 2 receptions.

9.) Hunter Cantwell- vs. Kentucky - Now starts my two sleeper picks for Heisman and unfortunately for both Cantwell and myself, things did not go as well as i had hoped. Cantwell Struggled to complete a majority of his passes as he never seemed to look truly comfortable as he only completed 20-43 passes for 152 yards with 0 scores and 3 picks…Not looking very Heisman worthy so far but we will se if this talented QB can turn his season around

10.) Josh Freeman- vs. North Texas - I am happy to say, that my pick for Heisman winner put on a great show on Saturday vs North Texas. Freeman showed a combination of stellar pocket prescense and great mobility on his way to completing 18-24 passes for 252 yards and 3 TD’s. He also added 23 yards on 5 carries and 2 TD’s, so far he has looked the best but the season is still oyung and there is alot of fotball left to be played.

Check back next week to see how our Heisman predictions fared against their week 2 opponents,

This is definitely a first in the football world as no player has ever legally changed their name in order to be able to wear a nickname on the back of his jersey. It would appear that Ocho Cinco has now taken his attention getting stunts to the maximum and all though coach Marvin Lewis hates the name, i think it is hilarious! Now all that I have to say is that after taking it this far, Johnson better have the year of his life and its not looking good already seeing as how he will be playing this season with a partially torn labrum after deciding to forgo surgery in order to play this season.

The other night, a few friends and I were watching a video on sportable.com. In this video, three guys take on the challenge of trying to eat Michael Phelps’ 12,000 calorie diet (which can be found here). Needless to say, we watched these 3 men fail horribly in their attempt. The way it was broken down was that each guy would take on one meal and they had one hour to finish the whole meal, or as much as possible. However, not one of them were able to finish a whole meal. The guy who was attempting to eat Phelps’ dinner ended up puking, and the guy who had the task of eating lunch threw up twice. After watching this horrible failure, we decided to try it ourselves, just to see what the big deal was.

Our line up was as follows:

Brian - Breakfast - 3 fried egg sandwiches, 5 egg omelet, 1 bowl of oatmeal, 3 pieces of french toast, 3 choc chip pancakes, and 2 cups of coffee

Greg - Lunch - 2 Large ham and cheese sandwiches and a pound of pasta, as well as 1000 calories worth of energy drinks

Joel - Dinner - An entire large pizza, a pound of pasta, and 1000 calories worth of energy drinks

We were all pretty confident that we could finish our meals so we videotaped our endeavor, Check it out to find out just how well we all did.

Chargers star linebacker Shawne Merriman has reported torn ligaments in his knee that could keep him out for the season. With a torn posterior cruciate ligament, things aren’t looking to good. Merriman is already coming off of surgery about 5 months ago to repair cartilage.

If Merriman chooses surgery over playing through the pain, do not expect to see him on the field this year. Any surgery of the knee is a tough road to recovery in the NFL. It’s no easy task.

As for the Chargers defensively, this is a huge blow for the team. Losing the league’s leader in sacks since 2005 (39 1/2). Expect Marques Harris to compete for the OLB position if Merriman is not ready.

Michael Phelps is amazing and has put electricity in the air these Olympics by putting his name in the record book race after race. This is an epic accomplishment that many of us will never have the opportunity to experience again.

I have never been a fan of swimming, but Phelps has the ability to make it the most exciting sport in the world. I have been planning my nights around his races lately and love it. He is great representative for America and he shows us that our dreams can come to reality.

Phelps’ teammates did a great job by not only doing this for their country, but for each other. They gave Phelps great recognition after the final race and showed that he is truly the greatest of our generation.

Congratulations Michael Phelps, you truely earned it.

First Off, I apologize greatly for the downtime we experienced, We had some server trouble and were working as fast as possible to resolve the issues. I am writing a small article covering the past few days activity on some of the events. This article is going to be all over the place, but I will get back on track shortly with some nice articles.

Of course over the past few days there have been tons of sports news events. CC Sabathia being traded to the Brewers was the biggest event over the past few days. The Brewers gave up 4 prospects to get the reighning AL Cy Young Award winning pitcher from the Indians. Expect the NL Central to heat up now as the Brewers will be making a chase for the Cub’s. This trade for the Brewers was a great move for the present time, who know’s how much this will hurt their future, but it will give them a push for the playoffs this season. The Brewers now have confidence in their team, the fans now have some hope, and 26 years of losing might soon be over. They might have just gotten the ace of the MLB.

Cubs brought in Rich Harden as a great move to help “cancel” out CC slightly. Harden is not the answer to this, but will only make the race tighter in the NL Central.

Other big news also comes from baseball(mainly the Phillies)… The All-Star votings came out, and as a Phillies fan I was furious to see that Pat Burrell did not make the squad after having a great first half season, batting .278, with 21 HR’s, 53 RBI’s, and 47 runs. The old juicer Miguel Tajada and Ryan Ludwick made it over him. Alfonso Soriano made the team and he’s on the DL, So hopefully this still gives Pat the Bat a chance to come in, or in the Final voting rounds. But the great news is that Chase Utley is leading the league in homer’s with 24, and will be participating in this years Home Run Derby with Josh Hamilton, Dan Uggla, Lance Berkman, Vlad Guerrero, and Grady Sizemore. 2 More players will be chosen. The Phillies just locked up closer Brad Lidge who has been phenomenal this season. Brad got a fresh start here in Philadephia after much speculation if he could handle the position, but he has claimed himself as one of the most dominant closers in the league this year. Other big Philly headlines comes from Elton Brand the new sixer

In more important frontpage headlines, A.Rod got divorced. woopty doo. Now he and Madonna will be the new item of the month.

In the NFL, things just keep getting more and more ridiculous with Brett Favre… It seems that the Packers don’t really want him back, but the city would love a return. A recent poll on espn showed that Wisconsin was the only state that wanted to see a return of him in the country. It is an tough decision for both of them(Brett and the organization), yes Brett can still win in the league, and yes Aaron Rodgers is not the instant success plan… He was drafted as the QB of the future, but the future is now for the Pack. Brett’s legacy will be tarnished if he returns, especially on another team like the Panthers or Bucs… Brett Don’t do it!

More cool news came in the NHL today when they announced that they will be announcing that another outdoor hockey game will be played in 2009 for the Winter Classic. The game will be between the Chicago Blackhawks and the league champs Detroit Red Wings. This year was the snowy outdoor game with the Penguins and Sabres. Crosby’s Penguins won 2-1 in a shootout at Ralph Wilson stadium.

Again, I am sorry for any site downtime and I hope to get begin posting regularly again.

Chicago is on fire again; the whole city is burning up on all fronts. Chicago is on top of everything; Cubs, White Sox, Bulls (on top of the draft) Kayne West is on top of the Rap Charts (I’m sorry lil’ Wayne ill call you the best rapper when you prove it on your OWN songs, and when you release those hundreds of “hits” you have recorded till then Kayne sits on the throne) Chicago is a finalist for the 2016 Olympic games and Barack Obama is leading the presidential polls. The Windy City is blowing the competition away on the field and in all professional fields.

On the south side the Sox are on top of the AL central that everyone in the world was anointing the Tigers champs. In my eyes there is only one obstacle in the Sox road to the playoffs and that is Ozzie Guillen. I love the man he is the Bobby Knight of the diamond, his press conferences sound like deleted scenes from Scarface; however his in game managing has been questionable over his career. But this is the same guy earlier this year could’ve gotten axed for several reasons such as an incident with blow up dolls and backstabbing his GM. His North-side counterpart Lou Pinella is doing his best Moses impression; leading his followers out of Bondage of a 100 year curse filled with goats, black cats, and a wicked man named Bartman to the promised land of a World Championship.

The Bulls had an odd season to say the least. Hopes were high some people felt that the Bulls could win the central division and make it to the eastern conference finals. This did not happen. Chicago found them selves at the bottom of the NBA weakest conference (Yes I know Boston plays in the East and they did win the title; but come on ever Stevie Wonder can see the West is a clearly better Conference) and this led them to the NBA’s city of eternal hope Secaucus NJ for the Draft lottery. And with JUST a 1.7% chance of winning the Bulls get the number one pick. They could draft a native son of The City of Big Shoulders named Rose. I hate Hype and projecting rookies in any sport however Derrick Rose is being compared to Chris Paul; normally lottery teams tent to end up back in the lottery (ex. Knicks, Bucks, Bobcats, Sonics) however occasionally a player is drafted and makes an instant impact. Look at Kobe, Garnett, Lebron, and Chris Paul these were all players who as rookies were looked upon to carry there team. Rose can do that and then some. What I love about this 6’3” point guard is that he played at Memphis; he ran a very complex variation of the Princeton offense with great scorers and he was able to feed them and still get his points.

I know it its late June but if we fast forward to the middle of September and both teams are still leading their division it could be a very interesting October/November for the Midway. Sox, Cubs, the Bulls with a first overall pick, the Bears improving due to the release of Cedric Benson (DISCLAIMER I do not believe in “addition by subtraction” but they have to improve without Mr. DUI. He has been a bust since day one. I bought into all his hype when he played for the Longhorns and now I am repenting for my sins) the Blackhawk’s who when they had Chelios, Belfour, Roneck, Tony Amonte and a young Hasek all at the same time still couldn’t win the Cup. But not all is lost the ‘hawks have the Reingining rooke of the year and no where to go but up. The last time Chicago was this hot it was 1871.
