The Madden Curse WILL end this year with Brett Favre and the New York Jets, expect big things from Favre this year in a new Uniform for the first time in like 300 years.

Think Brett Favre will get injured this season? hah, he hasn’t missed a game in 288 games and he is 38 years old! (nearly 39). Brett Favre doesn’t even know what it is like to miss a game, let alone sit on the sidelines.

Do you think Brett Favre will throw more Int’s then TD’s?? He’s only done that 4 times (once in Atlanta) in his career, and he has been in the NFL for 17 seasons.

Don’t let the Jets record last year fool you, they have weapons. Favre’s ability to stretch the field will allow Thomas Jones to do what he does best and run the ball, Jones won’t be seeing any 8 in the box this year. Favre will also be working with 2 big time recievers in Jericho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles.

Brett Favre’s sunday debut included a 2 magical moments…

Favre had a 56 yard touchdown bomb off a beautiful play action to Cotchery in the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter without Place Kicker Nugent, the Jets were forced to go for a 4th and 13. After quickly avoiding to pass rushers, Favre had the intelligence to throw the ball up in the air knowing that an interception is as good as an incompletion. The ball seemingly punt-like flew 22 yards and landed in the hands of leaping wide-receiver Stuckey.

Favre Debuted with 194 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Imagine Brett Favre meets Bizarro-world.

At the end of the NHL season, Colorado’s management told Joe Sakic to take his time choosing if returning to the Avalanche (or to the NHL/hockey at all) was an option. This included if his time off to make a decision even went into training camp. Everything was pretty much set up the total opposite of the Brett Favre situation; Management wants him to stick around, and is willing to give him anything he needs. After all, he’s been the face of the team for so long now, they owe him that much, right? Sakic finally made his decision on Wednesday by signing with the Avalanche for one more year, making this his 20th season, a deal that will cost the Avalanche $6 million. Sakic, as you can guess, is worth every penny. Sakic brings both a presence on the ice and in the locker room. In 19 seasons, Sakic averages nearly 72 games per season, and has 623 goals and 1003 assists (1363 Games Played). You can’t argue with a player that puts up a point per game.

Even at his age, playing in a league where young guns dominate, he still managed 40 points last season. Why is this important? In terms of veterans, there were 4 big names that come to mind. Sakic is number one. Number two, Jaromir Jagr, has signed in Russia, and let’s face it, the Rangers could never afford him, and he was offered good money to play in Russia.

The other two? Shanahan and Sundin. Shanahan has yet to sign with anyone, though he is supposedly willing to take offers from the Rangers, and the most buzz appears to be centered around his return to the St. Louis Blues.

As for Sundin? I don’t think the world’s top scientists could figure out what he’s thinking right now. Sundin’s situation is leaving a bad taste in hockey fans’ (specifically Maple Leafs fans) mouths. Does he want to play or not? NHL or No? PICK SOMETHING ALREADY. Players like this need to remember that they’re being paid to PLAY A SPORT, an occupation that many would kill for.

Back on topic, and to sum up, Sakic’s signing was a great move for the Aves and also for Sakic. He remains with the same organization for 20 years now, where he has been the backbone of the team.

It’s Official, the “Never Ending Story” (name thanks to Mike & Mike in the Morning) is over. Brett Favre is officially a New York Jet. The 4 win Jets have officially moved on from Chad Pennington by the signing of legendary Favre, and the release of Chad Pennington(Note: Chad is already in contact with the Miami Dolphins). Brett Favre just made the Jets a competitive force in the NFL now, the addition of him forces 2 safety’s to drop back and will allow Thomas Jones to roam with some more freedom. Do not expect Brett to turn this team around 100%, but expect them to win games on his shoulders. His leadership will be priceless and the Packers will be hurting without him this year… I can’t wait to hear the boo’s on Rodger’s first interception.

This weekend I went out and bought myself a new toy, Slingbox Solo, so here are my first 2 video’s I have recorded with them. I am sorry they are bad quality, I have not figured out the recording aspect of it yet 100%. Hopefully I can provide you them in HD soon!

There have some astronomical changes over the past 2 days in the NFC East. Things are heating up for the Best Division in Football and just about underway. The division consists of the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys; 3 of which reached the playoffs while the Eagles had an 8-8 record missing the playoffs.

The Washington Redskins got a devastating injury to defensive end Philip Daniels for the season on Day 1 of practice; 5 Hours later Jason Taylor joins the team and agrees with a deal. How does this happen? Taylor has been on the market for months(kind of considering Parcells lied and said Taylor will be a Dolphin at the beginning of the season) and the Redskins go from a terrible injury to bringing in a former defensive MVP in just hours! This was an unbelievable move for the organization, and the team. Now on a side note for the Redskins, as I was driving to work listening to Mike-and-Mike in the morning, Mike Greenberg GUARANTEED that Favre will be playing in Washington by the start of the season. He said this is the most reasonable location for him and that the trade will happen. I personally agree with what he said 100%(although as an Eagles fan I would hate to see this happen), Todd Collins had a magical run last year but it won’t last forever. Brett is the perfect match for this team and would thrive with all the weapons. This was a great trade for the Dolphins, because it gives Parcells the opportunity to use these draft picks for the future and build the team HE wants, not what he gets. The Dolphins have no use for Taylor this season, nor next season. But in 3 years when Parcells has the team he wants, it will have been well worth this Dolphin drought.

In New York, the Giants have parted ways with big-mouth under-producing tight end Jeremy Shockey. The Giants recieved a second round and a fifth round draft pick(2009) in the trade of the “superstar”. I think this was a great move for the Giants, it is time to move on and start giving the rock to 6’6 – 253 Kevin Boss. The guy is a giant(no pun intended) and showed glimpses of the player they have in him last season. Do not get me wrong, Shockey has been a very good player for the Giants the past few seasons, but I felt he was being held back from his potential many times(maybe because of injuries, maybe the quarterback), but this move is a great move for both teams.

In Philly, things were quiet and then could suddenly turn bad after the past week. Philadelphia’s #1 best athlete Brian Westbrook want’s more money. PAY HIM. Brian is the 13th highest paid running back in the National Football League, and is #3 in stats. Brian has rightfully deserved a new contract and rightfully deserves to be paid top 5. Lito Sheppard signed Drew Rosenhaus, but they report that Lito WILL be playing this season and looking for a contract after this year) I will be happy with this, as long as there are no problems with him in the locker room(I don’t expect any). Lastly, we signed WR DeSean Jackson on a 4 year deal who is expected to compete for the #3 receiver and the primary return-man. Jackson has deadly speed and we expect him to turn some heads this year. I am not sure if he is faster then Reno Mahe though .

Things have been unusually quiet in Dallas lately, I guess Pacman(oops I mean Adam) has not gone to a Dallas stripclub yet.

First Off, I apologize greatly for the downtime we experienced, We had some server trouble and were working as fast as possible to resolve the issues. I am writing a small article covering the past few days activity on some of the events. This article is going to be all over the place, but I will get back on track shortly with some nice articles.

Of course over the past few days there have been tons of sports news events. CC Sabathia being traded to the Brewers was the biggest event over the past few days. The Brewers gave up 4 prospects to get the reighning AL Cy Young Award winning pitcher from the Indians. Expect the NL Central to heat up now as the Brewers will be making a chase for the Cub’s. This trade for the Brewers was a great move for the present time, who know’s how much this will hurt their future, but it will give them a push for the playoffs this season. The Brewers now have confidence in their team, the fans now have some hope, and 26 years of losing might soon be over. They might have just gotten the ace of the MLB.

Cubs brought in Rich Harden as a great move to help “cancel” out CC slightly. Harden is not the answer to this, but will only make the race tighter in the NL Central.

Other big news also comes from baseball(mainly the Phillies)… The All-Star votings came out, and as a Phillies fan I was furious to see that Pat Burrell did not make the squad after having a great first half season, batting .278, with 21 HR’s, 53 RBI’s, and 47 runs. The old juicer Miguel Tajada and Ryan Ludwick made it over him. Alfonso Soriano made the team and he’s on the DL, So hopefully this still gives Pat the Bat a chance to come in, or in the Final voting rounds. But the great news is that Chase Utley is leading the league in homer’s with 24, and will be participating in this years Home Run Derby with Josh Hamilton, Dan Uggla, Lance Berkman, Vlad Guerrero, and Grady Sizemore. 2 More players will be chosen. The Phillies just locked up closer Brad Lidge who has been phenomenal this season. Brad got a fresh start here in Philadephia after much speculation if he could handle the position, but he has claimed himself as one of the most dominant closers in the league this year. Other big Philly headlines comes from Elton Brand the new sixer

In more important frontpage headlines, A.Rod got divorced. woopty doo. Now he and Madonna will be the new item of the month.

In the NFL, things just keep getting more and more ridiculous with Brett Favre… It seems that the Packers don’t really want him back, but the city would love a return. A recent poll on espn showed that Wisconsin was the only state that wanted to see a return of him in the country. It is an tough decision for both of them(Brett and the organization), yes Brett can still win in the league, and yes Aaron Rodgers is not the instant success plan… He was drafted as the QB of the future, but the future is now for the Pack. Brett’s legacy will be tarnished if he returns, especially on another team like the Panthers or Bucs… Brett Don’t do it!

More cool news came in the NHL today when they announced that they will be announcing that another outdoor hockey game will be played in 2009 for the Winter Classic. The game will be between the Chicago Blackhawks and the league champs Detroit Red Wings. This year was the snowy outdoor game with the Penguins and Sabres. Crosby’s Penguins won 2-1 in a shootout at Ralph Wilson stadium.

Again, I am sorry for any site downtime and I hope to get begin posting regularly again.
